Creating a Scientist’s Notebook

All scientists need somewhere to record their questions, observations, findings, and ideas. Consider having your budding citizen scientists set up their own scientist’s notebook. You may choose to use spiral notebooks, composition books, lined paper kept in a folder, or other available materials. If you and your students are tech-savvy, you may prefer to keep digital notebooks using Word processing software or a blogging platform. Whatever you choose, consider using the prompts below to encourage your young scientists to wonder and reflect.
