STEM Initiatives
The U.S. Department of Education is collaborating with other federal agencies to provide exciting learning opportunities for students in 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) programs. Check out the NASA, National Park Service (NPS), Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) portals, where you’ll find hands-on project ideas and resources your program can use to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to life.
NASA
In coordination with the U.S. Department of Education, NASA has developed several Engineering Design Challenges. Here you will find activity guides and professional learning resources, so you can try these projects in your own program!
National Park Service
In coordination with the U.S. Department of Education, the National Park Service has developed a Hands on the Land Citizen Science Project: Place-Based STEM Learning program. By partnering with national parks, 21st CCLC sites and students were able to participate in engaging citizen science projects. Activity guides and professional learning resources are included, so you can try these projects in your own program!
Institute of Museum and Library Services
